My First Time Travelling (Spain+Portugal!!!) Part 2

Updated: Apr 24, 2020

So midway through my trip we arrived in Seville, Spain. I've got to say that after my absolutely perfect day in Granada, everything else was pretty subpar in comparison. I still had some incredible moments ahead of me though. Luckily, I was having the most fun ever with the people that were in my group. Spending time with my group turned out to be one of the biggest highlights of my trip.

Seville was uncomfortably hot, but very pretty. My group and I saw a flamenco show from very close up, it was loud but so cool to see.

And I went to visit the Alcazar with a couple of girls. The Alcazar is where some scenes from Game of Thrones have been shot. I felt bad because it seemed to be a pretty big deal to everyone but me, who has never seen the show. But nevertheless, it was incredibly beautiful.

Next up was Lagos, Portugal, our second to last stop. Even though Portugal is so closely related to Spain, it could not look more different. Spain was bright and colourful, and Portugal was white and clean looking. My group ended up going kayaking and the wind was an absolute horror for us on the water. My partner and I struggled so hard just to stay afloat and one of the guy's in charge had to help us catch up with our group a few times. But either way it was nice to get some beach time. And it ended up being really entertaining for everyone.

After Lagos, we headed to our final destination, Lisbon, Portugal. In Lisbon, we just relaxed most of the day to gear up for our big final night. We ended up going to the coolest party spot I will probably ever see, an entire parking garage. Every level was a different scene, live music, bar spot, seating area. It was the most incredible thing to see. The last night was probably the only regret I have for my trip, because I didn't soak it in as much as I could've. By the end of my 10th day, I was really missing home and feeling over the whole travelling thing. I was tired, and getting uncomfortable so I didn't really milk the experience for what it was worth. Me and some of the girls from the trip ended up leaving at an earlier time than the others since we had a pretty early flight the next day. Looking back now, I wish we would've just made it an all nighter, but I'll know for next time. We ended up having to catch an uber blocks away form the party because the streets were filled with people partying

practically everywhere we went. I've never seen anything like it.

All in all it was the best experience of my life. And when I got back, I felt much more appreciative of the every day little things that I missed so much when I was away. I went to Europe with the hopes that I would enjoy myself. And I left Europe with surreal experiences, new friends and a better relationship with myself and my life. So, if any of you are hesitant about purchasing that plane ticket, I highly recommend that you just go for it. You won't regret it.

Be kind to yourselves

xoxo Jo
