25 Journal Prompts for Self-Reflection

It's a crazy time in the world right now. The coronavirus has taken all of our plans and hopes for the near future and swept them to the side. We're now burdened with facing the unavoidable truth that most of the time we can't control the way our lives end up. Things happen, we adjust.

Now we're forced to sit at home and face all of the things we may have been running from. We can't rely on our hair appointments and coffee dates to distract us from our inner world anymore.

When we're living in uncertainty, it can dredge up old memories that once made us feel as uneasy as our lives do now. It can highlight the weak points and sour spots that we'd rather pretend weren't there. But what better time than to deal with the skeletons in your closet than right now, when your schedule is looking a lot more open.

There is nothing better than a good old therapy session. Unfortunately, not everyone has easy access to one on one counselling, especially right now. The number one thing that has been helping me to reflect and heal at home lately has been journalling. I choose one question that will allow me to dig deep inside of myself and I really take my time to answer it. I pick a new question every night to focus on. There are many journal question ideas that you can find on Google or Pinterest. And of course, I'll be giving you my top favourite 25 questions for self reflection. I hope that you are raw and vulnerable with your writing, and that you can create something that can help you find more inner peace.

1. Who in your life has made you feel most vulnerable, and what would you say to them if you were being totally honest?

2. Do you have any repetitive dreams? What do you think you're subconscious is trying to tell you with them?

3. What would you do with your life if you had no limits?

4. What have your love relationships taught you so far?

5. What advice would you give yourself from five years ago?

6. What do you want to say to your future self?

7. What are you holding onto that you need to let go of?

8. What kind of love do you think you deserve?

9. What are the 10 things you've been most grateful for in your life? And why?

10. What parts of your life don't reflect who you really are?

11. What is a repetitive pattern in your life experiences? Why do you think it keeps coming up?

12. What moment has shaped you the most in your life so far?

13. What makes you feel purposeful?

14. What is your biggest insecurity? How does it affect your every day life?

15. What qualities do you admire most in yourself?

16. Who has inspired you the most, and why?

17. What is the legacy you want to leave behind?

18. Where do you see yourself in 6 months?

19. What is your favourite memory?

20. What do you think is most important in life?

21. What does happiness mean to you?

22. What book or movie has impacted you the most and why?

23. The last lesson you learned was?

24. What can you do to better take care of yourself?

25. How have you been feeling lately and what is creating that feeling?

I hope that you find these questions helpful and healing. We don't always have someone there to listen, but we can always choose to be there for ourselves.

Be kind to yourselves xoxo Jo
